Cancellations: What Happens When You Cancel

Life changes. Understanding your club's cancellation policy before you book — rather than after — helps you make reservations with confidence. The terms governing point refunds, rebooking windows, and any fees vary by programme.

When you can cancel

Most programmes allow cancellation up to a specified number of days before the check-in date without penalty. Common thresholds are 14, 30, or 60 days in advance. Cancellations made after this threshold may result in a partial or full point forfeiture, or a rebooking fee.

Point refunds

When you cancel within the penalty-free window, your points are typically returned to your active balance immediately and available for rebooking. Some programmes return points to a restricted pool with a shorter usability window rather than to your full balance. Check what happens to refunded points in your specific programme.

Late cancellations

Cancellations inside the penalty period usually result in lost points or a cancellation fee. If you are cancelling due to an exceptional circumstance — medical emergency, natural disaster, or travel disruption — contact member services directly. Clubs have discretion in these cases and may offer a credit or waiver.

Insurance and protection

Travel insurance that includes vacation ownership cancellation cover may reimburse forfeited fees or points value in certain circumstances. Review your travel insurance policy to understand what is and is not covered before relying on it.
