Account Checklist: Managing Your Ownership
An annual review of your vacation ownership account takes less than an hour and can prevent point loss, unnecessary fees, and account problems that restrict your bookings. Here is what to check and when.
Before your anniversary date
Log in to your member portal and check: your current point balance, any banked points and their expiry dates, any upcoming fee payment due dates, and whether your contact details and payment method are current. Set a reminder 60 to 90 days before your anniversary so you have time to bank unused points.
Annual fee payments
Confirm when your annual maintenance fee is due, what the amount is for the coming year, and whether your payment method on file is current. A failed payment can restrict your booking access and trigger late fees. Some clubs offer instalment plans — check whether this is an option.
Banking deadline
If you have unused points approaching expiry, confirm the banking deadline for your programme. Log in and initiate the banking request before the deadline if you want to carry points forward. Do not rely on the club to remind you.
Review your annual usage
How many nights did you use last year? Divide your annual fee by that number to calculate your actual cost per night. Compare it against the cost of equivalent hotels to assess whether you are getting value from your ownership.
Update contact details
Ensure your email address, postal address, and phone number are current in your member portal. Clubs send fee notices, account updates, and booking confirmations to the contact details on file. Outdated details lead to missed communications and potentially missed fees.
